Leviticus 19:1-2, 11-18, Matthew 25:31-46

"A terrible hunger for love"
“You must love your neighbour as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18)

Lent is a time to deepen our relationship with God and the people around us. This is because our Christian faith is not about ‘God and I’, but rather ‘God, others and I’.

Today, Jesus, our King and Master, identifies Himself with the poorest of the poor. Who are the poorest of the poor in our society today? They are the materially poor as well as the spiritually poor. Giving alms and donations during this time of lent is a wonderful thing to do. Yet let us go a step further and see how we can help bring love and meaning to those who are spiritually poor, especially the people close to us.

Let us ask Jesus to open our eyes and recognise the hunger for love in the people around us.

Question for reflection:
1) Today, who are the people whom I can bring love to?
