Reflection

James 4:13-17, Mark 9:39-40
“Not one of us”

In today’s gospel passage, John and the rest of the disciples saw a man, who was not one of them doing good deeds, and they immediately forbade him from doing such good deeds. The reason John gave to Jesus was that the man was “...not one of us”. The disciples failed to see the goodness of the man but simply based their judgement on the fact that he was not part of their group.

We meet people of different personalities, people with different ways of doing things, different habits, different educational level, etc. We must learn how to include others. Wherever there is love, there is God. Wherever there is unity, there is God.

Let us be part of the Kingdom of love where everyone has a place.

Questions for reflection:
1) Have I experienced being excluded or have I excluded someone?

2) How can I be open to accept the differences in others?
