Reflection
James 5:1-6, Mark 9:41-50
“Obstacle or blessing?’

Jesus had strong words for those who caused the little ones to lose their faith in God. Jesus wanted to make the point that Christians must live as Christians by rooting their lives consistently in God, and not in sins that cause others to be scandalised and fall away from the right path.

As Christians, we are called to have salt in us and be at peace with one another. What is the message behind Jesus’ words? Salt is significant to make food tasty. Thus, when we live Christ’s love consistently with our family members, with the community at large, we are the salt that gives good taste and flavour to wherever we may be. We reveal God’s presence! If we, instead choose to live our Christian faith in an inconsistent way, we lose our flavour. What then is the use of salt that is good-for-nothing?

Question for reflection:
What is God’s message for me in this time of silent prayer?
