Reflection
1 Corinthians 12:12-14,27-31, Luke 7:11-17
“Compassion in action”
“Compassion is not just feeling with someone, but seeking to change the situation. Frequently people think compassion and love are merely sentimental. No! They are very demanding. If you are going to be compassionate, be prepared for action!” (Desmond Tutu)

Jesus’ compassion moved him first to stop for a moment. His compassion then moved Him to action of raising the dead man. Our busy lives and hectic schedules can often get in the way of stopping, observing, being compassionate and simply being moved to action. If we want to imitate Jesus, then we should not be afraid to stop and offer tenderness and compassion to those who are suffering. As Jesus’ disciples, we must always allow compassion to reside in our hearts so that we can spread joy to those around us.

Questions for reflection:
1) Does the sadness and suffering of others move me to have compassion for them?

2) How can I imitate Jesus’ active compassion?
