Reflection

Ezekiel 34:1-11, Matthew 20:1-16

“Generous love”

“Why be envious because I am generous?”

In the same way that the owner of the vineyard was generous, God too is generous. God, out of His compassion, always gives and gives with open hands. God, out of His faithfulness, always calls us at various moments of our lives to bring us back into His love.

Entering into His vineyard, we are with God and will start to recognise the inner dignity we have as His children. We will then work for the Kingdom, not as labourers seeking for compensation, but as His children seeking only to please Him and love Him. When we know who we are for God, we will then also recognise our fellow workers in the vineyard as God’s children and as our brothers and sisters too. We will then rejoice at God’s generous love showered on our brothers and sisters. We will be delighted at what others receive from God, instead of being resentful or envious of them.

Questions for reflection:

1) Have I experienced God coming to me at different points of my life and bringing me back to His love?

2) Am I happy with God’s generosity in my life? Am I happy with His generosity in others’ lives? Why?
